Stage 4 Thymic Carcinoma Survivor – Waldean's Envita Review
When he was 65 years old, Waldean, a catfish farmer from Mississippi, began experiencing pain and discomfort in his chest. He went in for testing, and it was discovered that he was suffering from Stage 4 Thymic Carcinoma that had spread throughout his entire torso. For him and his family, this was a terrifying moment.
“You never want to hear those words,” says Karen, Waldean's loving wife. Their physicians were not very optimistic about the chances of success from standardized treatment's, giving Waldean very little time to live and no real plan in place to address his specific cancer.
Envita Medical Centers doesn't make any guarantee of outcomes. Results are not typical and will vary from person to person and should not be expected.
Waldean and Karen were not happy with the limited options that the standard of care provided. For his cancer type, NCCN guidelines recommend aggressive chemotherapy followed by extensive radiation therapy. These options can have very low success rates when not properly targeted for the patient and can put tremendous strain on the patient's body, causing lasting and debilitating side-effects.
Waldean knew this firsthand. He had a friend who was diagnosed with cancer around the same time he was, and that friend chose to undergo traditional standard of care treatment. “We were diagnosed on I think just about the same day, and he's in the grave,” Waldean laments. “He took the traditional route.”
Based on this experience, Walden, Karen, and their children came to the difficult decision to look beyond the standard of care treatment options and find an alternative, more personalized, and less physically debilitating path. That's when they turned to Envita.
In nearly 20 years of clinical practice, Envita Medical Center has treated thousands of patients suffering from late-stage, complex, and refractory-to-care cancer diagnoses with next level precision testing and personalized, targeted treatment selections. Using advanced genomic cancer analysis, our physicians can custom design patient-based cancer treatment modalities to help patient's like Waldean who may have been failed by conventional medical resources.
Standard of care methods do not adequately account for a patient's unique cancer mutation; treatment recommendations are based on a one-size-fits-all approach. Over two decades of clinical experience, Envita Medical Center has found cancer to be a genetically and immunologically driven disease that can vary widely from patient to patient. We've developed many specialized proprietary therapies to directly attack hard to reach and complex cancers. Including Genetically Targeted Fractionated Chemotherapy (GTFC), which utilizes special delivery agents to shuttle treatment specific to genetically determined cancer targets while potentially minimizing harm to the healthy cells and tissues.
This was exactly the kind of precision care Waldean and Karen were searching for. They made the call to Dania, one of Envita's Patient Care Coordinators, and learned about Envita's personalized approach, potential treatment options, and the atmosphere of the clinic. Walden notes that “They had a good experience [on the call] visualizing who she was, and the friendliness and the activity of the clinic here.”
The family was even more impressed when they came in for their first consultation with Dr. Sears, recalling that he was “Very considerate when it came to all of our records, anything we had.” Karen was excited to learn that Envita takes “Your individual cancer and they use what [customized treatment] is effective on that.”
At Envita, we believe that being in a loving and compassionate healing environment contributes greatly to regaining quality of life. We pride ourselves on the level of care and commitment from all of staff, especially our nurses. Waldean couldn't be happier with the level of service he received from his primary nurse, Diamond, noting that “She is receptive to tak[ing] a little time out to learn, to know, and to share hearts.” Karen, meanwhile, was elated to notice that, “The people here [at Envita], from the minute we walked in...it was amazing! They all seemed like the loved their job!”
Envita Medical Center provided Waldean and his family with the personalized attention and care they needed to continue battling against his Stage 4 Thymic Carcinoma, and he has achieved remarkable success.
